WRAS approved AL range of ultraviolet water systems come with a simple power supply and green/red LED. The AL2 range has a days  run indicator and audiable alarm for lamp failure or end of life. All chambers are 304 stainless steel.

Inside the 304 stainless-steel chamber runs a quartz glass sleeve which has rubber o rings at each ends to provide as watertight seal around the UV lamp. As the water passes through the chamber though one end and out the other, it is exposed to the ultraviolet light and microorganisms are rendered inactive so they are no longer harmful.

Ultraviolet light has been used for many years and is a tried and tested method against micro-organisms such as bacteria and viruses.  The concentrated ultraviolet light  destroys the microorganisms DNA and ability to reproduce, therefore disinfecting the water quickly and efficiently without the need for chemicals or additives.

It is highly reccomended a 5 or 10 micron sediment pre-filter is fitted just before the UV system to prevent larger particles sheilding the microorganisms from the UV light as they pass through.  For domestic systems a 10 inch housing with filter is normally adequate, however larger options may be required for heavier use higher flow rate or commercial systems e.g. 10" large diameter, 20" or 20 Large Diameter.
